In Memoriam: Susan Gustafson

It is with sadness ATPAM announces the death on April 12, 2018 of Manager Member Susan Gustafson in New York City, after a long battle with COPD. Sister Gustafson would have been 75 years old tomorrow. She had been a member of ATPAM since 1975.

Born and raised in Chicago, Susan received her degree in Theatre from Northwestern University. Her long Broadway career included managing many attractions for McCann/Nugent, Nederlander and Dodger Theatrical. Among those productions: Jelly’s Last Jam (1992), City of Angels (1989), The Nerd (1987), Precious Sons (1986), Leader of the Pack (1985), Cyrano de Bergerac and Much Ado About Nothing (1984 – playing in repertory starring Derek Jacobi), Amadeus (1980 – with Ian McKellan), Night and Day (1979), The Elephant Man (1979) and Dracula (1977 – with Frank Langella).


She also was Company Manager on numerous Off-Broadway productions, including: Woman in Black, As Bees in Honey Drown, Bunny Bunny and Picasso at the Lapin Agile. In addition, she worked as House Manager at the Mitzi Newhouse Theater at the Lincoln Center Theater.

Susan is survived by her brother and his family.

She will be missed.
