In Memoriam: Nancy Hereford

It is with sadness ATPAM announces the death on August 14, 2018 of Retired Press Agent Member Nancy Hereford in Torrance, California, after a brief illness. Sister Hereford was 71 years old and had been a member of ATPAM since 1976.

A lifelong Angelino, Nancy was born in Los Angeles and raised in El Segundo. She received her BA at UC Boulder and her MA in Mass Communications at Denver University.

Nancy joined the Center Theatre Group in 1976 and spent almost her entire career there until her retirement in 2016. She led the publicity campaign for the opening of CTG’s Kirk Douglas Theatre and worked on hundreds of CTG productions, including on the campaigns for the Pulitzer Prize winning productions of The Kentucky Cycle and Angels in America (Part One—Millennium Approaches). She also handled publicity for CTG’s new play development programs, education efforts and other institutional programs.

“Nancy was a powerful advocate for the theatre — she loved the art, the artists and the press that covered them,” said Center Theatre Group Artistic Director Michael Ritchie.

Plans for a memorial event will be announced.

Nancy is survived by her brother Richard and his family.

She will be missed.
