It is with sadness that ATPAM announces the death on February 28, of Gold Card Press Agent Lila King in Hastings, New York. Sister King was 88 years old and had been a member of ATPAM since 1957. In 2010, she was an inaugural inductee into ATPAM’s Diamond Club — a rare group of members counting 50 years or more of membership in the union.
Among the plays Lila represented on Broadway were: Black Comedy/White Lies, The Homecoming, Big Fish Little Fish, Rhinoceros (starring Zero Mostel), Period of Adjustment, A Touch of the Poet, and Bus Stop. Among the musicals she publicized were: Pickwick, Hello, Dolly! (starring Carol Channing), Oliver!, Subways Are for Sleeping, Goldilocks, Cranks and My Fair Lady (starring Rex Harrison and Julie Andrews). Lila later also flacked for many antique shows in the Northeastern US.
Lila is survived by her husband, Burton King and daughter Rebecca.
She will be missed.
