It is with sadness ATPAM announces the death on October 6 of Gold Card Manager Edwin S. Blacker in St. Petersburg, Florida. Brother Blacker was 80 years old and had been a member of ATPAM since 1981.
Ed was born in Petersburg, Virginia. He graduated from Richmond Professional Institute and began his career managing the theater at the Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts. He later worked at Ford’s Theater and for the Bat Sheva Dance Company of Israel. On Broadway Ed managed the Broadway revival of On Your Toes during the 1983-84 season. He rounded out his career at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, where he managed both the Terrace and the Eisenhower Theaters and also served as the DC/Baltimore area ATPAM steward. He retired to Florida in 2002.
Brother Blacker is survived by his husband of 20 years, Ervin (Charlie) Cerveny.
